I came to psychology following several years in legal practice. Since I was young I've been interested in questions like: How does one deal with the hurts of life, both the everyday kind and those that are more debilitating? How does one find depth, meaning, purpose, fulfilment, peace? What does it mean to live with integrity, and how does one achieve it? All the little questions! I've found some of the most compelling perspectives in the writings about contemplative practices and traditions from throughout history and around the world. My PhD will draw upon those contemplative approaches, cognitive science, and philosophy of mind, with the aim of showing how, together, they can provide fresh insights that are of practical importance.
