On Replications. Something Empirical, Methodological, Perceptual, and Statistical by Don Van Ravenzwaaij

The recent focus on the reproducibility crisis screams for proper methodology and sound scientific practices.

12 noon. Monday 26th February. Venue TBA.

However, there does not seem to be consensus about what proper methodology is, nor what a successful replication entails, nor even if conducting replication studies is worthwhile at all. In this talk, I will show through examples of my own work how my perspective on some of these questions have evolved over the past few years. Perhaps most important in my view is that we need to get away from dichotomous thinking about study (and replication) success.
