Title: Information constraints on visual short-term memory

Abstract: The present thesis will first compare two common psychophysical paradigms used in visual short-term memory research and propose an extension to both a signal detection theory model and the diffusion model of Ratcliff (1978) to unify the behavioural data obtained from these tasks. The second part of the thesis will further develop these models to provide an account of the relationship between observer sensitivity and physical orientation using both accuracy and response time data.
