Music, executive functioning, and emotion

This project aims to determine the relationship between common executive functioning abilities (inhibitory control, working memory updating, and cognitive flexibility) and the flexibility of emotions and their controlled expression.  While most research into these links focus on dysfunction, this project will approach this relationship through the lens of music training, a variable that often results in improved performance of lab-based cognitive tasks compared to non-musical individuals.
