CHDH helps advise Government on community privacy perceptions in the age of COVID-19

CHDH members have helped advise the Australian Government on the impact of COVID-19 on the public sentiment towards privacy.

The Federal Minister for National Disability Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services, the Honourable Stuart Robert MP, asked for a rapid response brief from the Australian Academy of Science to answer the following question:

Has COVID-19 had an impact on public sentiment in relation to privacy and the widespread use of data and technology by government in responding to the public health crisis, be it through tracing, compliance or enforcement?

Professor Dennis and Dr Garrett (with assistance from CHDH research assistant Joshua White) assisted a team of social scientists to draft a response to this question drawing on the best evidence available.

The main finding of this rapid research brief can be found here.

The entire brief can be read here.
