Congratulations to our new Future Fellows

Please join us in celebrating the exciting news that A/Prof Charles Kemp and Dr Katie Greenaway have been awarded ARC Future Fellowships.

Charles Kemp

Charles has been awarded $990,429 to investigate how linguistic variation is shaped in part by variation in the local physical and social environment, leading to the creation of computational tools that pick out key differences between languages and therefore support cross-cultural communication.

Katie Greenaway

Katie has been awarded $707,046 to redefine our scientific understanding of why social connections are good for well-being, conceptualizing it as a process that involves successful regulation of emotions and behaviour. This will lead to the development of evidence-based interventions that grow social and emotional skills with the potential to provide a ‘social cure’ for Australia’s loneliness problem.

Overall, the University of Melbourne has done exceedingly well in this latest ARC Future Fellowships round, and we are exceptionally proud of Charles and Katies’ achievements. Congratulations Charles and Katie!
