I'm Brodie, and I am a social psychology PhD student. I am interested in questions situated at the intersection of psychology, philosophy, and sociology. My PhD research focuses on the relationship between morality and existential meaning, and specifically examines how the need for meaning motivates costly prosocial behaviours. I am interested in what makes life feel meaningful for people, how and why sacrifice and responsibility produce meaning, the difference between the search for meaning and pursuit of happiness, and the kinds of behaviours that ultimately contribute towards wellbeing. Outside of psychology, I like books, beer, bars, cycling, hiking, Seinfeld and Wes Anderson films.
