The Speaker

Anca Hanea is an applied probabilist based at the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis (CEBRA) at the University of Melbourne. Her background is in mathematics and risk and environmental modelling. She has a PhD in Applied Probability from the Technical University of Delft (TU Delft). As a probabilistic modeller she is interested in uncertainty quantification using data (when available) or structured expert judgement (SEJ, when data are sparse or missing). Anca was instrumental in building a COST European network for Structured Expert Judgment (SEJ) elicitation and aggregation, and related standards for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Together with colleagues from the University of Melbourne, she has developed, tested and co-authored guidelines for the IDEA protocol for SEJ. She has taken part and facilitated numerous expert elicitations in various projects undertaken by WHO, EFSA, the European Framework 7 Programme, DARPA, Cawthron Institute, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, and many universities around the world.

The Seminar

In this event in a series, speakers from within the Hub, the University, and the broader research community tell us about their research. Our Research Seminar Series involves speakers covering a broad range of themes surrounding our Hub’s interests, so we’ll hopefully all learn something interesting. Whether you want to learn to inform your own research or to simply satisfy a personal curiosity, we hope to see you there.
