Introducing A/Prof Jacqueline Anderson: Our CNH July Feature Story

Can you describe your research interests?

"Clinical Neuropsychology in general, but I most commonly investigate factors that contribute to variation in outcome after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). In addition to this work, I also investigate the efficacy of practical interventions for individuals with mTBI who have not recovered well."

What inspired you to pursue this research topic?

"My clinical work for many years was at The Alfred hospital, where I routinely saw patients suffering from concussion/mTBI after workplace or road traffic accidents, who were not recovering well. Research that explained why this occurred was extremely limited and given that it is a highly prevalent occurrence, I could see that further research was very much needed."

What do you like most about your work?

"I like the fact that due to the multivariate nature of the relevant factors, the work has to be very interdisciplinary, ranging between psychological processes, mental wellbeing, cognitive function, neuropathology and general physical factors."
