MSPS Awards Night 2023

On Wednesday 3 May, we celebrated the wonderful achievements of our staff and students at the annual MSPS  Awards Night.

Professor Iain Walker delivers the Occasional Address to a full audience.

Congratulations to all of our 2023 awards winners, and thank you to everyone - award winners, friends, family, colleagues and presenters - who joined us on Wednesday evening.

The 2023 Awards Night was our first to be held in-person since 2019 and we had a spectacular turn out, filling every available seat the Woodward Conference Centre. We also shared an online stream via Zoom for those unable to make it to the venue - a recording of the evening is available to watch below.

Following a welcome from Head of School, Professor Rob Hester, and introduction to the evening's MC, Associate Professor Cassie Hayward, Professor Iain Walker provided an inspiring and humorous Occasional Address. We then celebrated the achievements of our undergraduate and Graduate Diploma students, along with our Fourth Years and Master's students.

Islay Pittaway, awarded the Maureen Molloy Medal for 2023, spoke to the audience about the impact of the achievement on her future endeavours, while the winner of the Elgin Prize, Oliver Eastwood, left a touching letter of thanks to be read out in his absence. Dr Jacob Paul, awarded the ReWire Hines Early Career Research Award, also took to the lectern to describe his research to the audience - showing off a 3D printed copy of his brain.

A full list of all award winners can be found in the online program (PDF 1.5 MB).
