Professor Kim Felmingham (PhD) is the lead of the BETTER CRE and oversees the overall project management.
Prof Kim Felmingham is Chair of Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne. She is a clinical psychologist and researcher, who has specialized in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and it's treatment. She is recognized internationally for her research identifying the neurobiology underlying PTSD, predictors and mechanisms of exposure therapy, and in conducting psychophysiological research investigating fear extinction in PTSD populations. Further, she has been involved in multiple clinical trials of exposure therapy for PTSD and is currently leading an NHMRC-funded clinical trial in augmenting exposure therapy with aerobic exercise. Prof Felmingham holds executive, teaching and clinical roles in the psychology postgraduate training programs at University of Melbourne, leads PTSD treatment workshops for clinicians each year, and is an active clinical psychologist treating traumatized and anxious patients. She has extensive experience in training emerging clinical psychologists in exposure therapies for anxiety disorders and regularly consults on curriculum and clinical training content in postgraduate programs.
