About Professor Nick Haslam
Nick Haslam is Professor of Psychology at MSPS and co-director of the Mental Health PhD program. He has published 11 books and more than 300 articles or book chapters in these and related areas. In addition to his academic writing, Nick contributes regularly to The Conversation, Inside Story and Australian Book Review, and has also written for TIME, The Monthly, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Australian and two Best Australian Science Writing anthologies. He will share advice on how to distil research findings for a general audience.
About Dr Courtney Walton
Courtney Walton is a psychologist and Academic Fellow at MSPS, and his research explores mental health in performance environments like elite sport and the performing arts. In recent years he has done >30 interviews across podcast, radio, television and print, mostly in relation to athlete mental health. He will share his experience with radio and podcast press, including his recent coverage tying into the Olympics.
About Elizabeth Davie
Elizabeth Davie is the Complex Human Data Hub coordinator and also a professional clown. Her work has been highlighted in The Guardian, The Australian and The West Australian on radio, podcasts and nation-wide social media. She has a Master of Communications and has run media campaigns for multiple organisations. She will discuss print media, sticky questions and calming nerves for media engagements.
About Lindsie Arthur-Hulme
Lindsie Arthur-Hulme is a current PhD Candidate at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, researching the interaction between hormones, hormonal contraceptives and social behaviour. Her PhD research has been highlighted in The Age, on radio, nation-wide social media, and even Fox News. She will provide an overview of some of the lessons she learned while working with various media outlets. She will share resources that helped prepare her to speak to the media, as well as sharing mistakes she made along the way.
