Congratulations to Dr Gezelle Dali, ACNS ECR Project Grant Winner
We would like to congratulate Dr Gezelle Dali, Academic Fellow within the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Melbourne, on being awarded the inaugural Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society (ACNS) Early Career Researcher (ECR) Project Grant.
Established to support outstanding early-career researchers in cognitive neuroscience, the ACNS ECR Project Grant provides funding for innovative pilot research that will advance the field and foster future research opportunities.
Dr Dali's research investigates the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying impulse control and performance monitoring, with a particular focus on substance use. She has previously co-developed smartphone applications that measure cognition alongside alcohol use in everyday life, enabling researchers to examine how fluctuations in cognition relate to alcohol consumption in real time.
With support from the ACNS ECR Project Grant, Dr Dali will build on this work by exploring whether passive smartphone data can be used to monitor cognition and predict alcohol use behaviours. This research has the potential to improve our understanding of cognition in real-world settings and contribute to the development of more accessible, technology-enabled approaches to supporting brain health.
Congratulations to Gezelle on this well-deserved achievement. We look forward to following the progress and impact of her research.
