Postdoc position available for ARC-funded project on prediction in visual processing

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and driven postdoctoral research fellow to join the Time in Brain and Behaviour Laboratory ( led by Hinze Hogendoorn at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, University of Melbourne.

The position is part of an ARC-funded Future Fellowship to study the role of prediction in visual perception and attention. The successful candidate will use psychophysics and time-resolved EEG decoding approaches to investigate how the brain compensates for its own processing delays to allow us to act effectively in the present.

The position is for 12 months initially, with the possibility of extension. Salary is at Level A or B depending on qualifications (starting at AUD 91,125 per year plus 9.5% employer superannuation contributions - Australian postdoctoral salaries are extremely competitive). Preferred starting date is sooner rather than later.

The successful candidate will have:

- A PhD in Cognitive (neuro)science, Biology, Psychology, or related cognate discipline
- An excellent track record of publications relative to opportunity
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrable programming fluency in Matlab
- Excellent English writing and presentation skills
- Ambition to excel in a research career
- Experience with neuroimaging is desirable, particularly EEG and/or MVPA
