Ian is a respected author and prominent advocate for the therapeutic application of mind-body medicine and meditation. He has championed lifestyle-based therapeutic approaches to improving wellbeing for over 4 decades.

What does contemplative practice mean to you?

Contemplative practice is about seeking the truth of what it is to be a human being; and then living in accord with that truth. It combines science and personal enquiry to build a theoretical and direct experience of this inner truth.

Biography

Dr Ian Gawler OAM is an Australian author and a prominent advocate for the therapeutic application of mind-body medicine and meditation. Ian began his working life as a veterinarian and co-founded the world’s first lifestyle-based cancer self-help group in 1981 and the first similar groups for people with multiple sclerosis in 2001.
