Building bridges in contemplative studies: CSC x M3CS workshop

Our researchers were joined by colleagues from Monash University for this collaborative workshop.

On Wednesday 6 May, we hosted our first-ever cross-centre workshop, bringing together 12 early-career researchers—six from the Contemplative Studies Centre (CSC) and six from the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies (M3CS).

During this half-day workshop, participants connected, shared ideas and explored their research. Each researcher presented their current projects in a dynamic 10-minute session, sparking such enthusiastic discussion that keeping to time became a challenge!

The group reflected the rich diversity of our field, spanning disciplines, career stages and personal backgrounds. Research topics were equally wide-ranging, from the mechanisms of meditation and the interaction between mindfulness and psilocybin, to sleep and dreaming, predictive processing and advanced meditative states.

The workshop was a resounding success, leaving researchers from both centres energised and inspired, with a shared commitment to deepening these conversations and building sustainable collaborative networks.
