Uni Mental Health Day: Supporting student wellbeing
A collaboration with the Health Promotion Program at The University of Melbourne.
On Tuesday 5 May, the Contemplative Studies Centre (CSC) joined colleagues from the Health Promotion Program and other support services across the University of Melbourne at the annual Uni Mental Health Day. The interactive expo-style event aims to raise awareness about the unique mental health challenges students face and connect them with practical resources to support wellbeing and build meaningful social connections.
The event saw 386 check-ins, reflecting strong engagement among the student community. There was an even mix of undergraduate and graduate students, with representation from all faculties across the University.
Led by Dr Chris McCaw, the CSC team shared opportunities for students to develop mindfulness skills through our breadth subject, The Art and Science of Meditation and our new self-guided learning module, Mindfulness & Meaning @ Melbourne. This online resource explores how mindfulness and meditation can help students find deeper meaning in their studies and thrive during their university journey.
We were pleased to once again be part of an important initiative that equips students with practical skills to care for their mental health and confidently navigate the pressures of university life.
