Tracking meditation: A longitudinal study
Have you recently taken up meditation? We're inviting meditators like you to participate in an exciting two-year research project that could revolutionise our understanding of meditation's impact on wellbeing and personal growth.
What's it all about?
Our study aims to uncover the rich tapestry of experiences that unfold through continued meditation practice. We're particularly interested in how different meditation traditions shape practitioners' journeys over time. Plus, we'll be exploring the cost-effectiveness of meditation – information that could make these valuable practices more accessible to all.
Who can join?
Do you live in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States or Canada?
Did you start practising mindfulness, Theravada (for example Insight, Vipassana, Samatha) or Mahayana (for example Zen) meditation between 1 and 4 months ago?
Do you plan to continue meditating regularly? (it will not matter if you stop meditating during the study)
If yes to all, please join! If you’re unsure whether you fit these criteria, please email us before completing the Expression of Interest survey.
What's involved?
Over two years, you'll contribute to this groundbreaking research through:
- Three 30-minute online surveys (at the start, after one year, and at the end)
- An easy voice message sent to us each week about your practice
- Brief monthly surveys (just 15 minutes each)
Your insights will help create a roadmap for future teachers and practitioners.
What's in it for you?
Beyond contributing to vital research, you'll receive:
- Gift cards (USD140 equivalent) for your country
- Personalised practice tracking feedback
- A unique opportunity for practice self-reflection – you keep the voice diaries
- An invitation to join our community and interact with fellow participants
- Access to practice resources exclusive to participants
